Below are the previews and predictions for ALL of the girls Hockomock Crossover games.
Oliver Ames @ Franklin, Thursday, 7 p.m.
Thursday night we have the rematch that everyone has been waiting to see, as Davenport Division champion Oliver Ames will take on Kelley-Rex Division champion Franklin. In the first matchup the Lady Panthers came out on top with a 33-32 win at home. The first matchup proved to be a relentless, fast paced contest a game where Oliver Ames had over 20 turnovers, which ultimately proved to be their downfall. I’m expecting another up-tempo style game with a lot of scoring this time around.
This game is full of star power as the leagues top four scorers will be taking the court. For Oliver Ames they have the leagues leading scorer in Candace Steadman who comes in averaging 15.9 a game. The Tigers also have the third top scorer in Caitlyn Abela who puts up 14.3 a night. For the Lady Panthers, Alicia Kutil averages 15.1 which is second in the league, and Catie Phelan comes in at fourth putting up 14.1 points per game.
I’m expecting another close game between these two teams and with all the scoring ability wouldn’t be surprise if each team puts up big numbers. This is the game of the year on the girl’s side and won’t disappoint.

Stoughton @ Mansfield, Friday, 6 p.m.
What a difference a year makes.
Last year, Mansfield went into its Hockomock Crossover matchup with Oliver Ames in hopes of securing an undefeated season, while Stoughton was already out of tournament contention. This year, while both teams have already clinched a berth in the state tournament, the Black Knights have been on the rise, while the Lady Hornets experienced some growing pains replacing last year’s senior class.
Make no mistake, though, these are two talented teams that could do some damage in the state tournament.
For Mansfield, Michaela Bowes provides her team with a outside option, while Kaitlyn McCarthy is the team’s swing option and Kelly English gives the Hornets an inside presence.
Stoughton, meanwhile could have the size advantage with the frontcourt duo of Nicole Daniels and Chrystal Holland. That presence underneath could open up some opportunities Emma Zuk and MacKenzie McGrath on the outside.
Mansfield won the only meeting back on Jan. 10, but Stoughton has won eight of nine since then.

Canton @ North Attleboro, Friday, 5 p.m.
North has won six in a row including victories over last year’s champs Mansfield and, the previously unbeaten, Franklin Panthers. North beat Canton earlier this season 61-29 and they look like a formidable opponent this time around as well.
The Lady Bulldogs’ loss to Stoughton on Tuesday was a blow to their hopes of making the postseason. Every game remaining is a must-win for Canton. Senior forward Murphy is the key for the Lady Bulldogs on offense and is a double-double machine. She will face a number of different defenders as North Attleboro generally uses a rotation of post players to keep pressuring and crashing the boards. Canton has been streaky this season. They lost five in a row only to win four of the next five and they now need to finish with three consecutive wins to make the tournament.
North Attleboro have 1,000-point scorer Jill Cullen at the point, who might be the most subtle scorer and creator in the Hockomock, but their strength on both ends of the floor lies with the forwards. Meg McHugh and Megan Ronaghan can knock down jumpers and drive to the basket while Kate Kummer adds rebounding. Coach John Del Bonis knows they’re not a great defensive team but they can score with anyone.
If Canton can keep the Lady Rocketeers off the boards than they will have the chance of beating them, but with North on a great run at the moment this could be a similar outcome to their first meeting.

Sharon @ Attleboro, Thursday, 6:30 p.m.
Attleboro is a scrappy defensive squad that is very aggressive in man-to-man sets to make up for a lack of overall team size and speed. Brianna LaPlume and Savannah Boyle will battle on the post and have a surprising amount of success on the boards due to their strength. Offensively, turnovers are a typical problem for the Lady Bombardiers. When they do get into their sets Kirsten Terrien is generally the first option off a double screen and Boyle adds a different dimension as a power forward that can shoot the three. The Lady Bombardiers just lack a go to scorer and have long dry spells on the offensive end.
This is a much more important game for Sharon as they need to win two of their remaining four games to qualify for the tournament. Karlie O’Driscoll is the player to watch for the Lady Eagles. In their last game, a home win over Dighton-Rehoboth, O’Driscoll had an amazing 20 points, 11 rebounds, 5 steals, and 5 blocks. Andrea Bender’s outside shooting will also be needed to stretch the Attleboro defense, which is strongest preventing the pass to the interior.
Sharon won the first meeting at home by 13 and they need the win more than the Bombardiers but Attleboro have been a tough beat at home and could pull a surprise.

Foxboro @ King Philip, Friday, 5 p.m.
There is plenty at stake between these two teams despite being the fifth place game. Earlier this season, the Warriors of Foxboro were able to come away with a win over the Warriors of King Philip. Jenna Liljeberg and Erin Fennessy will be looking to lead their team to victory to avenge their loss from the first time these teams saw one another. For both teams, this will be there last time their seniors play a Hockomock game and will want to leave their mark on the league before leaving.
