Why do you play soccer?
I play soccer because it has become a part of my life. The last fourteen years of my life I have fell in love with the sport and it is the one place I can forget the world and do what comes natural for me. I love the rush of adrenaline during close games. I love playing soccer with my best friends that I met through the sport. Soccer is part of who I am and has shaped me to the person I am today. I will always be forever grateful for soccer because it is one thing that will never go in my life.
Why is 2012-2013 going to be a good year for Taunton High School?
Over the past four years the core group of seniors and juniors have grown close together as a team. We have all been playing together our whole soccer careers and we are coming off a disappointing run in the state tournament last year and we all our committed to improving as a unit. We know we have talent on every place of the field. When everyone is playing to our full capacity we can compete against any team in the state. We have a special group of players and we are excited to make our run this year as a team.
What is your favorite Taunton soccer memory so far?
My favorite memory for Taunton soccer was during last years City Championship game. The game was a battle between Coyle Cassidy and Taunton. It took until four minutes left in the game for me to put score the game winning goal assisted from my wingman Matt McDonald. There was nothing better than scoring the game winner against your city rival.
What were your emotions when you played your first varsity game?
My first varsity game I still remember extremely vividly. We played B-R at Taunton under the lights for my first night game in high school as a freshman. I was more than excited to make an impact on the field waiting patiently for me to get into the game. When the moment arose I assisted Taunton with its only goal in our loss. Even though we lost I was happy knowing that my varsity career had finally begun.
What makes playing for Taunton High School so special?
The most special thing about playing for Taunton is that we have all played soccer together our whole lives. The atmosphere on and off the field as well with our chemistry is great. Coach Purpura has been coaching most of us since our freshman year as well as Coach Angers and Coach Alix. Our coaching staff teaches us to play as a unit, be creative, and support each to become better players and people. For the past four years I have looked forward for every practice and game because it has been the greatest part of my high school career.
When you’re not practicing, what are you usually doing?
When I'm not practicing I'm usually working at Panera Bread. Mostly I spend my time hanging out with friends and enjoying the time we all have together before we go off for college.
