Why do you play soccer?
I have been playing soccer even since I can remember. Being from Hungary, my dad was really influential in getting me started because soccer is such a big deal over there. I think that watching so many games when I was little encouraged me to go out and play like how the pros do. Now, I play because soccer it is my passion. The game for me is like a time-out from reality because once I step on the field, I can block out everything else.
Why is 2012-2013 going to be a good year for Oliver Ames High School?
This year we have the capability to achieve a lot of success. I feel like we have all the right parts and we are all working towards a common goal. Our team motto this year Is “11 for 1” and we have done a great job of adhering to it. Our teamwork as well as chemistry off the field will lead to a strong season, and hopefully a deep run in the state tournament.
What is your favorite OA soccer memory so far?
So far my favorite soccer memory at OA has got to be winning the Hockomock League last season. It was exciting to see that all of our hard work throughout the year had paid off. It was especially enjoyable because before the season started, I don’t think many people anticipated that we were as good as we showed we were. Our team really embraces being the underdog because it gives us a bit of extra motivation going into games.
What were your emotions when you played your first varsity game?
I remember my first game pretty clearly. It was during sophomore year, against the strongest team in the league. I remember having mixed emotions. I was obviously excited to be playing at the highest level, but at the same time I was nervous because I wanted to impress the coach so I could earn a higher spot on the team. Once I started completing a few passes and getting into the flow of the game I settled down though.
What makes playing for Oliver Ames High School so special?
What stands out most to me is the fact that we all get along off the field and in school, which I think is a rare trait for many teams. Everybody is friendly with one another, and this contributes to how we perform on the field. The transition we have between off and on the field is so smooth that it makes playing together very easy.
When you’re not practicing, what are you usually doing?
When I have free time, I am either doing my homework or catching up on watching games. I enjoy following my favorite team, Arsenal, so I try to watch as many of their games as possible. I watch what the players do, and try to improve my own game.
What are your top 3 pregame pump up songs?
This is the toughest question. Usually I don’t use music to pump me up, but there are some times I listen to music in order to calm me down before games. If I had to choose three, I’d pick Easier To Run by Linkin Park, Mind Eraser by The Black Keys, and Beautiful Day by U2.
