Why do you play soccer?
Soccer has been so much fun to play ever since I was a little kid. The fact that you only need yourself and a ball means you can play almost anywhere at anytime. Its always fun to kick around a ball with some of your best friends on a nice sunny day. Soccer always keeps me on my toes and connected with my friends, I have yet to have a bad year of soccer.
Why is 2012-2013 going to be a good year for Mansfield High School?
The team we have this year is something special. We have great depth, but also every single player on the team has heart and passion for the game along with a great attitude; and that put together will allow us to beat the most talented teams out there. Everyone gets along well and everyone likes everyone on the team. We have so much fun whether its a pasta dinner at someone house, Papa Ginos, or even at practice. We have a lot of juniors but they play very well and will be tremendous assets to the team this year along with a great coach Steve Sheridan. He is the one that will lead this special team to a Hockomock championship and hopefully a state championship.
What is your favorite soccer memory so far?
U13 soccer I think it was, travel A team with coach Daganhardt in the Columbus Day cup. We were facing Mission Soccer Club in the championship at the Plymouth street fields and it was tied 1 to 1 (we have never won this tournament before but have played in it every year). With seconds left to spare Sam Daganhardt sends me a ball up the left side and from 30 yards out I take a shot and it goes top right corner as the whistle blew ending the game. We all went wild with our dyed green hair, we jumped up everyone pig piled on me and I still remember it to this day.
What were your emotions when you played your first varsity game?
My first time on the varsity field was our first game against Bridgewater Rhynham. Coach needed someone who would run through a brick wall so the last five minutes of the game the coach calls me off the bench. I was waiting and shaking at half field to sub in, I have never been so excited to step on a soccer field before. With one minute left Andrew Moomey sends me a ball up the field and I head it over the goalie ending it in a tie game. I didn't even know what to do i was so excited I ran around screaming high giving everyone, it was a good game.
What makes playing for Mansfield High School so special?
Mansfield has a great atmosphere to play in. Our playoff game two years ago against Braintree I think half the school was in the stands chanting for us. We always have good opportunities to play good teams and compete for the Hockomock title, I could imagine playing anywhere else.
When your not practicing, what are you usually doing?
Usually if I'm not on the field I will be at the hockey rink or hanging out with my friends doing different activities such as playing tennis at memorial park, or frisbee on the turf, or just hanging out in the sun swimming. I love to hangout outside with my friends because we are always doing something active and there is never a dull moment.
What are your top 3 pump up songs?
I would have to say It's My Time by Fabulous, Lose Yourself by Eminem, and Levels by Avicii. I don't have any specific songs I listen to before games, I just like fast, upbeat music.
