There will be 41 football games between the 11 Hockomock football teams in the coming months, but we have selected five games that when all is said and done, will have high implications at the season's end. Here are those five games and why:
10/5 – Sharon @ Canton – Why this game? Because the Davenport Division of the Hockomock doesn't have a clear-cut winner. The winner of this game will have an edge going forward and can use that momentum to possibly take down Stoughton and Oliver Ames on rout to the Davenport title.
10/12 – Stoughton @ North Attleboro – This one is circled because it was arguably the most exciting game between two Hockomock teams last season. Stoughton was involved in plenty of thrillers, including a double overtime game with West Springfield and a shutout over Mansfield, but the overtime loss to North Attleboro might be the best. This go-around might not be as close, but it’s worth watching.
10/26 - Mansfield @ North Attleboro - These are two of the top teams and will most likely help determine who's in position to win the Kelley-Rex and who will be on the outside looking in. The Red Rocketeers picked up the victory over Mansfield last year, 18-15, and that's something that the Hornets haven't forgotten about.
10/26 – Stoughton @ Oliver Ames – Like the Mansfield/North Attleboro matchup, the battle of the Davenport’s black and orange teams will likely be the game of the year amongst small Hock teams. Last year, OA’s 24-14 win over Stoughton put them in the driver seat of the Davenport and they never looked back. The timing of this game means there is a good chance the game will have the same implications.
11/10 – King Philip @ North Attleboro - If you had to pick a game of any of the Hockomock match ups this season, this is the one you want to see. With this game so late in the season, it’s likely both of these teams will have impressive records. And it’s even more likely that this game will have huge implications on who win’s the Kelley-Rex. This game will likely determine the winner, but Mansfield will be watching carefully. It’s unlikely there will be another situation in need of tie-breakers like last year, but it’s not impossible.
